Stratford & District Model Railway Club

About Us

Club currently situated at Cutlers Farm Business Centre near Bearley, just outside Stratford upon Avon

Originally formed in 2010, at first meeting in a local pub before moving to a very cramped and cold (but free) hut, that was restricting in every way but better than the pub room. Late in 2015 the decision was taken to actively search for better premises. Early in 2016 the club reformed as Stratford and District Model Railway Club and on the April 1st relocated to new premises (which allow the layouts to remain erected) at Cutlers Farm Business Centre near Bearley, just outside Stratford upon Avon.

We are a small friendly group meeting every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The club caters for a range of scales, interests and abilities and welcomes anyone interested in the hobby. Members have the opportunity to work on our layouts, help each other fix problems, learn new skills, refine existing ones, share tips and expertise, or simply have a natter and make new friends over a cup of tea. Members are all ages and backgrounds, and whatever your experience and skill you will be given a warm welcome.

We currently have layouts at the Club in, 0 gauge Dc/Dcc, 00 gauge Dc/Dcc and gauge Dc/Dcc and G gauge.

The old club "Glasgow" 00 gauge layout has been remodelled into a 8ft x 18ft layout renamed "Cutler's Junction" after the farm where we are situated. The layout includes a very large fiddle yard at the rear with the station complex and goods yard at the front. Also, linked to Cutler's Junction is "Quarry" a 12ft by 5ft extension (a layout in its own right) which has been kindly donated by one of our members. These layouts can run separately or together in either DC or DCC.

The 0 gauge is a based on a fictitious preserved branch line ‘Blackheath’, this runs down the full length and along one side of the clubroom wall allowing members to run any period of locomotive and stock.

N gauge modellers are not forgotten as there is currently under construction a model of Chippenham station which is hoped to be available for exhibition use.

For those who like the larger scale there is also a G gauge line which when completed will give a running length of over 130ft.
